Wartook Roast Lamb

This recipe comes from Kate and is a tradition at my annual family getaway with two other families at Wartook. We generally get the Slow Cooker going early in the day, then enjoy everything the Grampians has to offer. At the end of a long day, both the adults and the small army of children sit down and enjoy every last piece of this.

What you will need

  • Leg of Lamb
  • Garlic Cloves
  • Gravy Powder
  • White Wine
Method
  • Cut off as much fat as possible off the Lamb.
  • Brown in fry pan and place in slow cooker.
  • Peel as many garlic cloves as you like (at least 5) throw them in slow cooker.
  • Slosh in a couple of cups of white wine (Chardonnay or the like).
  • Cook in cooker on slow for about 7 or 8 hours, turning every now and then (paint may peel off your walls when you lift the lid or the Garlic will clear your sinuses).
  • Drain most of the fluid through a sieve into a pot and push as much garlic through as possible.
  • Leave slow cooker on slow keeping the meet warm. Add water liquid in pot add gravy powder to it to thicken.

This Lamb has so much flavour that a simple side of mashed potato will suffice, but you could always have some of my previous recipe - The Devils Roast Vegetables - with it too!

Don't forget to send your recipes, hints and ideas to paul@easymix.com.au
